About ACV
Australian Christian Voices (ACV) is a group of Christians, and others, who believe that Christian opinion is far more diverse and far broader than it is often portrayed in the media, or as it is often portrayed to the media, the public, and the body politic.
ACV is accordingly concerned that the diversity of Christian opinion is becoming increasingly marginalised by powerful lobby groups, and that these groups are purporting to represent wider Christian opinion while at the same time hijacking that opinion for their own purposes. As a result, politicians, the media, and the public are wrongly concluding that these marginal views are identical with, and representative of, wider Christian opinion. ACV is therefore concerned with promoting public awareness of the diversity of Christian opinion, as well as contesting and critiquing those views which purport to represent Christian perspectives but are in reality the viewpoint of a narrow sectional interest. ACV is not a lobby group, nor do we claim to speak on behalf of any Christian denomination, congregation, community, or organisation. Our membership is drawn from Christians from a variety of backgrounds and traditions; and from members of the wider public supportive of our cause.
